2024 Royal Windsor Triathlon | Results and Highlights

The historic streets of Windsor were bustling with excitement this morning as participants gathered to take part in the 2024 Royal Windsor Triathlon—one of the top days in the triathlon calendar each year.

Over 2,800 people signed up to take part in this year’s event. From eager first-timers taking on their very first triathlon to seasoned pros competing in the BTF Championships and World Sprint Qualifiers, and with many raising vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, the Official Charity of the Royal Windsor Triathlon.

The morning was sunny and clear with the water temperature at a refreshing 15.8 degrees Celsius. Beginning bright and early with a River Thames Swim, followed by a scenic cycle around the Berkshire countryside, and finally finishing with a picturesque run in the shadow of Windsor Castle along the famous Long Walk. The day had something for everyone and there was a truly incredible atmosphere as supporters and their signs cheered on their loved ones.

The Sprint Distance waves (750m swim, 22km bike, 5km run) kicked off the day with Joseph Perry storming through to take the fastest over the distance in the Open category wave in a time of 01:05:05. The fastest female over the distance was Isabelle Franco, who clocked an impressive time of 01:11:53.

In the Olympic distance (1500m swim, 40km bike, 10km run), Rory Strachan achieved the fastest time of the day in 01:58:35 taking part in the Open category with Tom Bill and Chris Ashton following close behind in second and third. Megan Blake stole the show in the female category with her speedy transitions and incredible endurance allowing her to claim victory in a time of 02:16:20, second place went to Anna Birrell in a time of 02:17:16 and Rebecca Leadbeater took third place only 23 seconds behind Birrell.

Congratulations to all who took part and a massive thank you to all the volunteers, crew and many others who make this day possible. It was a remarkable display of both triathlon and community.
